Murphy Philipps was established in 1997 and is based in London. We have experience in commercial, residential, healthcare and education sectors. The practice is led by four partners and is supported currently by 20 staff.

Clive Guyer

Clive Guyer is a partner at Murphy Philipps having joined in 2004. His experience includes projects in the healthcare, research and commercial sectors, from their inception to completion over the past 20 years. Within the healthcare and research sectors, Clive has successfully delivered large complex projects, whilst also working on award winning community healthcare schemes. Clive has extensive experience in client advisory and due diligence work, and regularly lectures at MARU at South Bank University.

Marc Levinson

Marc has worked at Murphy Philipps Architects since 2002 and has been a partner since 2006. His experience includes projects in the healthcare, commercial and residential sectors. Marc has also been extensively involved with the writing of design guidance for the Department of Health, including reviews of exemplar healthcare buildings in conjunction with CABE. He regularly presents at conferences on issues including sustainability and innovative healthcare design and is currently undertaking a masters’ degree in Planning Buildings for Health at the Medical Architecture Research Unit.

Paul Mathews

Paul joined Murphy Philipps in 1998, shortly after its formation. He started his career at Alsop & Störmer working on the Hotel du Department building in Marseille, and also had spells at Hopkins and TR Hamzah & Yeang in Malaysia prior to joining Murphy Philipps. Paul’s technical and detailed design expertise has been utilised on a number of complex imaging, sterilisation, and pathology projects within the healthcare sector, as well as Murphy Philipps’ residential and office schemes. He is responsible for the management and development of the office’s CAD and IT systems.

James Philipps

James Philipps co-founded Murphy Philipps in 1997 after extensive experience at a number of high-profile architectural practices. He works within the commercial, healthcare and residential sectors as well as overseeing design quality within the practice. James has a particular interest in fabric structures and the innovative use of materials.
