Newton Abbot Hospital

The new community hospital for Newton Abbot forms part of the Integrated Care Network (ICN) developed between Devon PCT and the local Acute Trust. The proposals for the hospital have taken the local context and devolving clinical services into the community as key design drivers, creating a building which provides flexible and effective facilities.

The hospital provides 60 stroke, re-enablement and intermediate care beds, a minor injuries unit, imaging facilities and a re-enablement suite. The commission was won through the PFI procurement route and won the PFI Deal of the Year Award 2007. This project also won the 'Best Community Care Design' category at the Building Better Healthcare Awards in 2009.
