AMHU, Southampton

The Adult Mental Health Unit in Southampton was procured through the LIFT framework in South West Hants. The building consists of 50 male and female acute beds, a high dependency unit and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).  There is also an ECT suite, day therapy spaces, admin and staff areas. We have worked closely with the users to provide a safe, secure and therapeutic space for patients, staff and visitors.

The building layout is based on current research in mental health and is organised predominately around the social spaces. There are also several courtyards and gardens which maximise views into the natural landscape and provide access to external areas.
